Artists to Watch: 2014 Edition!

FOXES

Though she first burst out on the scene in 2012 with her Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs number one hit “Youth” and other applaud-worthy tracks including “Beauty Queen” and “Warrior”, the incredibly talented, London-based Foxes was immediately thrown into the spotlight as a featured vocalist on Zedd’s inescapable smash “Clarity” this past year and quickly signed to RCA Records’ artist roster.
With a voice praised by numerous critics, Foxes continued receiving positive exposure with a contribution to Fall Out Boy’s recent album on “Just One Yesterday” and is currently preparing for the release of her very own debut effort entitled Glorious, set for release this March.
To generate buzz for the anticipated project, the quirky artist has already unleashed “Holding Onto Heaven”, a powerful, big chorus type of song that continues showcasing Foxes’ effortlessly beautiful vocals. “Let Go for Tonight”, a mixture of Marina & the Diamonds and Florence & the Machine, has been released as well, along with its fun, colorful accompanying music video.
While she continues to churn out show-stopping track after show-stopping track, Foxes is paving herself a path for a very successful 2014. With a down-to-Earth personality, inspirational releases and a stunning look and voice, the 24 year old is one you want to keep your eyes on.

WILSON KNIGHT

Under the close guidance of our genre-bending cover artist Solomon, R&B/pop artist Wilson Knight jumped into the competitive world of music with the release of his refreshing debut single “Stable Ground" feat. ROB.B in June 2013. The song details a personal look into a crumbling relationship while successfully incorporating influences from the urban contemporary, hip-hop and pop genres.
Knight quickly followed his debut single with the release of its “Supreme Remix” featuring rap verses from LastO and DDM, becoming an entirely different track and sound for the artist. “Fernando”, originally penned for inclusion on Britney Spears’ recent Britney Jean, followed soon after and showcased a slightly more radio-friendly pop vibe and included clever, provocative sexual innuendos.
The platinum blonde artist will kick off 2014 with the release of his third official single, “Just Missed the Train”, and its accompanying music video set for release in March or April. Plans for his upcoming debut extended plan have also begun with talks of the inclusion of eight tracks and a tentative Spring release. Knight says the EP is expected to have more of an “urban pop” feel, leaning toward the sound of “Stable Ground” instead of “Fernando”. This guy is just getting started.

NEON JUNGLE

Four-piece British girl group Neon Jungle are fairly new to the music scene, with only two moderately successful singles under their belt, but they have already showed the determination, drive and dose of sass needed to tackle the charts.
With their first offering, the EDM pop-inspired “Trouble”, members Shereen, Amira, Jess and Asiami showed the world the type of hard-hitting, dance floor worthy creations they were willing to dish out. Peaking at number 12 on the UK Singles chart, the single and the girl group quickly jumped on every pop critic’s radar.
Neon Jungle are following up their initial chart success with “Braveheart”, their upcoming debut album’s official second single, officially out later this month. The new single is quite the club banger, with 90s dance-sounding, David Guetta-influenced production poised to burst any radio speaker as the girls finally get the chance to show off their individual talents. The follow up effort is a little less “in your face” as their debut release, with a sound that is screaming for current radio airplay.
Both singles are incredibly delicious and just what the group needs to get people talking about their upcoming yet-to-be titled debut album, set to be released later this year under RCA Records.

STEVE GRAND

Following the positive media attention toward the release of his brave and personal debut country power ballad single, “All-American Boy”, the gorgeous Steve Grand immediately lit a fire in many hearts with his jaw-dropping good looks, a sexy music video and sultry vocals. His debut release was the telling of the love between two friends with an underlying message bigger than just a simple crush.
In the fall of 2013, Grand treated fans to his second official “Stay” and its adorable, carefree, fun in the sun music video following a headlining appearance at the Austin Pride festival. The new offering may not have been as successful as his first, but did showcase the growth an artist needs to become more than just a throwaway one-hit wonder. While incorporating a catchy chorus of desire, Grand wrote the pop/country hybrid of a track to reflect on a love he had in the summer that he eventually lost in the fall.
Steve Grand is currently recording his debut extended play which should be out in 2014 with no set tentative release date as of yet. The effort is to include his two singles and the track “Say Goodbye To Your Man”, an original creation the artist has performed live on numerous occasions.

CHARLOTTE OC

Originally signed to Columbia Records during her teenage years, before being dropped unexpectedly and unable to release her eventually shelved album, up and coming Charlotte OC has returned at age 23 to make a powerful statement with her blues/jazz/synth sound and gorgeous dark looks.
Before recording on her new debut album begins in Los Angeles later this year, set for release next summer, the edgy artist premiered her first extended play in November 2013 featuring remarkable tracks including a plea to her ex-lover in the form of “Colour My Heart” and the somber “Cut The Rope”.
The four-track EP also features standout track “Hangover”, released as iTunes’ Free Single of the Week back in December. There is no exposure or promotion better than that. The song is a moody jazz creation which highlights Charlotte OC’s exceptional, slightly haunting, vocal performances, similar to those from Stevie Nicks or Adele.
While many artists may quickly give up once released from their initial recording contract, Charlotte OC took some time off, found inspiration to write again and seems to have come out of the ordeal stronger and wiser. Her unique approach to music and heartfelt mid-tempo ballad are things that should not be ignored in 2014.

KARMIN

After gaining massive exposure through video sharing site YouTube with original covers of songs including “6 Foot 7 Foot”, “Look At Me Now” and “Super Bass”, hip-hop/pop duo Karmin are finally getting the wheels turning on their sure-to-be impressive career in 2014.
Following the Top 20 success of debut radio single “Brokenhearted” and its follow up, “Hello”, the recently engaged musical duo are prepping for the release of their official debut album, Pulses. After a few setbacks, an original release date in November 2012 never materialized. The anticipated album is now set to hit shelves this March under Epic Records.
To precede the release, Karmin unleashed its lead single “Acapella”, a tongue-in-cheek, woman empowerment anthem which blends the duo’s pop and hip-hip influences together perfectly, back in July 2013. “I Want It All”, an energetic, disco/jazz experiment, follows as the effort’s second single, set to impact radio airwaves this month. The new single is an infectious number with its addictive “da da da” hook and strong vocals from Rolling Stone’s “Women Who Rock” winner Amy Heidemann.
To promote their upcoming album, Karmin are set to tour the country with their 15-date Pulses Tour, making stops in Boston, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
