Lids Sports Group plans to hire 50 workers in the Houston area for the holiday shopping season.
The Indianapolis-based sports apparel retailer plans to hire more than 3,500 seasonal, part-time and full-time workers nationally for the holidays. The company will hold a hiring event on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. to interview candidates and make offers.

Interested applicants can apply online and in store. Lids, started in the early 1990s, has more than 1,000 stores nationwide selling officially licensed and branded baseball caps, jerseys and shirts for collegiate and professional sports teams.
Retailers plan to hire more than 4,500 seasonal workers in the Houston area for the holidays. Many companies are using hiring events to attract workers amid a tight job market and forecasts of a banner holiday shopping season.
