Every last Wednesday of the month, I'd get an invitation from Daddy to join him at The Tap Room for Margaux Salcedo's Jazz Night concert.
I never get to join him because Tap Room with Da means going home at 2:00am. And I am a piglet who needs my beauty sleep.
Fortunately, one Sunday lunch he asked if we would like to accompany him because Margaux will be singing at City of Dream's Hyatt Hotel on a Saturday! Hallelujah!
I have to admit I was just as excited for the buffet as I was to finally hear The Margaux Salcedo sing!
Except for singing at church and the once in a blue moon karaoke, I am no musical prodigy. So, forgive me if I seem more interested to talk about food than music.
City of Dreams is no stranger to us. The other piggy works for Nobu. And every Sunday we bring her to work (and every Sunday, Da would comment na hindi pa din pantay yung poste ng Dreamplay! Every Sunday!). We were there first before the others and after making sure we got the best seats to see and hear Margaux, together we surveyed the battle field.
This definitely got my attention. And one or two (or even more) went instantly to my belly. They are still there... in inches and weight.
Ohhh, Lamingtons. I adore this colorful sweet treats. Pillowy sponge cake soaked in chocolate or syrup and rolled in coconut flakes.
Da and I got so excited over the Noodle station until we remembered he can't have liquids on a weekend. And as a good and loving child, dadamayan ko si Daddy! Hahaha.

Iberico Ham is love. Who says pig can't eat pig?? Who?!!
Hyatt's Lobby Lounge has very limited Sashimi and Sushi selection BUT they have UNLIMITED UNI!!! And that, people, is enough to make this little piggy squeal in ecstasy!
These are a few of my favorite things 🎶🎼🎹 I can sing too.
Uni is my comfort food. After chocolate, of course.
I like my meat thick and pink! Lamb was a bit more done than I would have liked it but it was still tender and juicy.
As if two servings of uni was not enough, I asked for 2 more, to the shock of the chef (ps. He gave me one and I requested if he can add more uni to the bowl. And to give me another with the same equal amount of uni. Hehe). I carried it then to the pasta section and nicely told the chef to bear with me as I instructed her how to cook my very own Uni Lemon Pasta. Ohhhh... (pps. I was so tempted to ask if I can come inside and cook it myself!)
Yes, it was one full plate and I finished it all. Burp!
The creme brulee I can eat second, thirds and fourths. The tiramisu was good but I've had better. The matcha chocolate cake was pretty but not enough earthy green tea taste. And the pralines, truffle and nougat - lets just say I will still be sweating at the gym next week to burn off the amount I ate of those yummy little suckers!
I said I won't eat soup but after I told Da I want to try the Laksa kaya lang it might tempt him, he lovingly told me: 'No, no, it's okay, kumuha ka na. Hindi ako maiingit.' The loving, obedient child that I am, I went and got a big bowl! who am I to disobey?!
More than the food, what I love most is being with Daddy. And knowing his friends. I get to know another side of him I normally don't see. For me, he is just Daddy. But to others, he is Tata Neal.
Sorry, Da for the not so perfect shot. It's the only one I got.
And yes, Margaux was just as wonderful. Catch more of her at Tap Room Manila Hotel, last Wednesdays of the month.
